    Frequently Asked Questions

Orbital Decompression surgery is needed to treat this problem.

Orbital Decompression/Eye decompression surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It is designed to remove bone and/or fat from behind the eye, allowing the eye to move back into its socket. The surgery makes more room behind the eye for the enlarged muscles and eyeball to be accommodated within the bones around the eye.

Dr Priti Udhay works through hidden incisions in the upper eyelid crease, through the caruncle (inner corner of the eye), and through the inside of the lower eyelid so that no scar is seen after surgery.

The bulk of recovery from orbital decompression surgery occurs within 20 to 30 days. Pain medications help patients manage the mild to moderate discomfort you may experience during the first 7 to 8 days after surgery.

In the inactive phase the bulgy eye does not recover on its own and needs surgery.

This surgery is technically challenging. It requires experience, fine surgical skills and appropriate technology. Use of ultrasonic aspirators and navigation guidance can increase the precision and safety of this surgery. It is safe in well trained hands. Dr Priti is an expert at this procedure. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible care and expertise. Do contact us at +91 9790996255 for any further clarifications.

Orbital decompression surgery is a surgical procedure in which bones around the eye socket (orbit) are removed to create more space for the eye. This procedure is done to treat bulgy eyes due to thyroid. The surgery may be done without any cuts on the skin (from inside the eyelid), or it may involve making an incision through one of the eyelids which are hidden in the natural crease of the eyelid.
